Why the name Leather Apron Club
In 1727, Benjamin Franklin created a mutual improvement club in Philadelphia called the Junto. It consisted of the owners of various trades who met together to develop and grow individually and to grow their businesses. Because the members wore leather aprons as part of their trades, the club was also know as the Leather Apron Club.
A few of the benefits to the country that arose from the Leather Apron Club were the first Lending Library, the first Volunteer Fire Department, the first Police Force (Volunteer Militia), the first Public College, and the first Public Vocational School among many other influential contributions.
In the spirit of our founding fathers, and modeled after Ben Franklin's original Leather Apron Club , we endeavor to form an alliance of like-minded American citizens dedicated to reinvigorating the community minded culture in America. We are zealous about bringing attention to the way our elderly are treated, the way our homeless veterans and mentally disturbed people are treated, and the lack of life skills our children are being taught.
Entrepreneur's Credo
Thomas Paine is credited with writing the pamphlet, "Common Sense", that sparked the spirit of independence from the despotic rule of English royalty. He also wrote the "Entrepreneur's Credo." These words powerfully explain what it is like to have the true American spirit. Anyone who is a true entrepreneur, or who has the true American spirit, cannot help but to be emotionally uplifted when reading or hearing his words.
